Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, has announced the start of construction on an additional seven miles of border wall as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to strengthen security along the southern border of the United States. This announcement reinforces the administration’s commitment to protecting national sovereignty and reducing the illegal trafficking of drugs, guns and people that has plagued the country in recent years.
‘Our nation’s security is non-negotiable,’ Noem declared during the press conference in Texas, where the first phases of the project will be carried out. ‘Under President Trump’s leadership, we are taking back control of our border and sending a clear message to the cartels and human traffickers: you are not welcome in our country.’
Since assuming leadership of the Department of Homeland Security, Noem has prioritised the implementation of tougher and more effective immigration policies, seeking to reverse the border crisis inherited from the Biden administration. With the completion of these seven miles of wall, it is hoped to reinforce strategic points that have been used by criminal organisations to facilitate the illegal entry of migrants and the trafficking of drugs such as fentanyl, one of the greatest threats to US public security.
The announcement has been greeted with enthusiasm by conservatives and national security advocates, who see the construction of the wall as a critical step towards restoring order to the border. ‘This is just the beginning,’ commented Texas governor Greg Abbott. ‘Under the Trump administration, law and order will return to our border.’
On the other hand, Democrats have criticised the measure, claiming that building the wall is a political strategy rather than a real solution to the immigration crisis. However, the facts have proven otherwise. During President Trump’s tenure, strengthening the border significantly reduced illegal entry into the country and limited cartel operations in the region. With the weakening of these policies under Biden, uncontrolled immigration reached historic levels, with increased violence and trafficking of illicit substances affecting both US citizens and migrant communities.
Restarting construction of the wall represents a restoration of border security policies that have proven effective. The Trump administration has reiterated its commitment to enforcing the law, strengthening the Border Patrol, and implementing tough measures to curb illegal immigration. With the resumption of wall construction, the United States is once again moving towards a strong security policy based on respect for the law and protection of citizens. Kristi Noem has made it clear that her leadership of Homeland Security will be marked by an agenda of concrete action and tangible results, ensuring that every mile of wall built contributes to strengthening the nation’s sovereignty and well-being.
